The exciting news is that the the Long Course Tri on Saturday 3/19 is the USAT Florida Long Course Regional Championship this year. We are honored to be hosting this championship at such an ideal location. With the great tradition of triathlon in this part of sunny Florida it will be an exceptional race to be a part of.
The one loop 1.2 mile swim is in picturesque Lake Minneola, designated as “Outstanding Waters” by the State of Florida. Projected water temperature is 68-78 degrees. The 56 mile one loop bike course will be through scenic rural country roads with rolling hills and one short steep climb up Sugarloaf Mountain. The 13.1 mile run course is an out and back along South Lake Trail. Transition will be in lovely Waterfront Park.
With temperature highs in the 70’s and lows in the 50’s and a very slim chance of rain this should be an excellent race. With Orlando just 25 miles east and all the amusement parks including Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, Discovery Cove, ESPN Wide World of Sports etc. in the surrounding areas this is definitely a destination race. The trip can be a perfect outing for the whole family.
